Running To Lose Your Dad Bod
Running is a great exercise if you are a career runner, but for a dad trying to get rid of their dad bod, it is probably not the right choice.
Why Running Is Bad
If you are carrying extra weight, running can be very disastrous. How can lifetime runners do it with success? Because they are lean, very lean. If you are carrying extra weight, it is not a matter of if you will get hurt, it is when you will get hurt. Running is just too tough on the joints and the back. There is a better way to lose weight and get the dad bod of your dreams.
A Better Approach
A better way to lose weight and the dad bod is to follow the following three rules.
- Do resistance training.
Resistance training has a number of benefits. It allows you to maintain your muscle and, with sufficient protein, allows you to build muscle. More muscle equals more energy burned at rest.
- Eat more protein.
Protein will allow you to build muscle and it will increase your metabolism because protein takes a lot of energy for your body to digest. Up to 30 percent of the calories you get from protein go back into digesting it. Additionally, protein promotes satiety, keeping you full longer and allowing you to stick to a deficit.
- Track your calories.
Unless you track your calories, you will never know how much you are really eating. Download a free nutrition tracker, set a small calorie deficit of no more than 500 calories a day and you will find success.
You might think that the above steps are over simplifying weight loss, but they work. Do these three things with consistency and you will lose weight and develop an awesome dad bod.
